The first musical offering from OCKTOBER
Along with his long time friend,Dave Lane, who plays piano ,flute and strings they release their own brand of original material under the name OCKTOBER.
He Has worked with theatre director Robert Swinton. (music for Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Nights Dream', also The Malvern Mystery Plays, and Light and Dark)
Dave Lane Graduated from Leeds College of Music in a galaxy a long time ago.(1976) went into professional playing as a jobbing keyboards player, [Studio sessions, summer seasons, club bands etc.] He was Invited to tutor in piano at Newcastle College of arts, then,Studied at Salford University, where gained an MA in composition and won the Salford University post graduate prize [the Kirklee's prize] for composition in brass band music.
Born in Birtley,Co-Durham on october 5th 1955, before moving south to the bustling metropolis of Doncaster at the age of two. Dennis started playing the guitar when he was 17.He dabbled with saxophone and clarinet then later moved onto piano. Forming and experimenting in many original bands.
He remembers his early musical influences, his parents Elvis and Perry Como records echoing around the house until the 70s unleashed David Bowie and Mick Ronson, Dave Gilmore,Kate Bush,Roxy music and Bolan .Becoming more and more interested in wanting to experiment with the juxtaposition of melody and arrangements that were as far away as possible from the sugary diet of banal repetition that was and still is,currently fed to the populace. His interest in the act of creating music that takes you somewhere is both tactile and enigmatic.
